In 1999, biologist Tyrone Hayes' job was to test the safety of a widely
used weed killer. He found that a chemical ingredient in the product was
causing sexual abnormalities in frogs. He says that when he took his
findings to the company that made the product, they found creative ways
to disregard his scientific studies and attempted to buy his silence.
Hayes joins host Frank Stasio in the studio to talk about corporate
sponsorship of scientific research.

Chemicals are everywhere. They are a key component of modern life. But
the long-term impact of the chemicals we come in contact with on a daily
basis is not known. In this documentary produced for the BBC World
Service, Jez Nelson "maps" pollution on a very personal level.
